Journey back
in time to a kinder, gentler era.
Our newly
restored plantation home, originally built
in 1928, sits nestled among
mangos, papayas and hibiscus on the
beautiful garden isle of Kauai.
We purchased this vintage gem from the original owners in 2004,
and have made every effort to maintain the charm and character
of the home while renovating it. Several original pieces
of furniture remain, such as the cedar chest at the foot of
the king bed in the master bedroom and the buffet piece in
the dining room. And, although doilies and handmade
afghans will remind you of times past, we have completely
renovated and refurbished every room, maintaining the
cherished past while adding every modern convenience.
When carpet was removed from the old bathroom, a beautiful
mosaic tile surface was uncovered like buried treasure.
The decision to restore it to its original beauty was
immediate. We re-porcelained the
original over-sized tub in the bath and the kitchen sink with
porcelain drain board. There are two showers in addition to the
tub, as well as an outside shower for rinsing sand off after a
day at the beach.
The tradewinds carry the song of the surf through the windows
and tempt guests to take the short stroll to nearby Fuji Beach.
Hale Kealoha is just 200 steps from the ocean. From the kitchen window and the rear
lanai, there is a peek-a-boo view of gentle aquamarine
swells. Open the front door and Sleeping Giant is your
view. A short walk brings you to Kapaa town, an
oceanfront settlement of quaint shops and wonderful
restaurants. Hale Kealoha's central location
makes touring the island an easy affair, whether you are
driving to Hanalei Bay or the Waimea Grand Canyon. Come visit the most beautiful island in the world and stay at
Hale Kealoha, the House of Love. |
